How to Use a USB Cord for a PSP

The PlayStation Portable or PSP, is a hand-held device from Sony with many functions. Users can put music files, movie files and photos on the PSP for playback. The process in which files are added to the PSP is through a USB cord. In order to use all of it functions and get the most enjoyment out of the PSP, the user must know how to use the USB cord and where to place each file on the device.

  • Five-pronged USB cord

Instructions

      Place the small fat end of the USB cord into the slot allotted for it at the top of the PSP.

      Connect the opposite thin end of the USB cord into the USB port located either in the side or back of your computer, depending on the make and model.

      Turn the power on by sliding the silver tab upwards located on the right side of the PSP device.

      Press the left arrow key until the "Settings" icon is highlighted.

      Scroll down to the option entitled, "USB Connection," and press "X."

      From the PSP window that loads on your computer, select "All Files and Folders."

      Double-click the "PSP" folder which brings you to a window of sub folders. Open either the "Music," "Video" or "Photo" folder depending on what type of file you would like to add to the PSP.

      Drag the file into the appropriate folder, and close the window. Once all the files that you wish are in the PSP folders, right-click and select close to safely remove the PSP device from the computer.

      Disconnect each end of the USB cord and repeat the step whenever you would like to add something new to your PSP.
