Convert your music into MP3 format. If your music is on your computer in a music program like iTunes, it is already in MP3 format. If not, download iTunes. (Follow the link in Resources.)
Install iTunes on your computer. Click on the icon to open it. Agree to the terms and conditions. Click "Install." Once the installation is complete, you may have to restart your computer.
Open iTunes.
Insert a music CD into your CD/DVD drive.
When iTunes asks if you want to import the CD, click "Import." Wait for the CD to be imported. Repeat with all of the music you want to put on your PSP.
Turn on your PSP. Insert your memory stick. It should be at least 4 GB to fit a large amount of music on it.
Open iTunes or your other music program.
Organize your music. Put it in folders according to artist or song. This will make it easier to sift through once you have it on your PSP.
Connect the USB cable to your PSP and your computer. On the PSP, click on "HOME" and then " X." It will bring up the option to connect the USB device. Click "Yes."
Click on the PSP icon on your computer to open it. Click on the Music folder.
Copy the music files from your computer to the Music folder on your PSP. Drag them from your computer and drop them on the PSP. Keep the MP3s organized. Drag the entire folder with the music you want in it.Do not copy and paste! The music may become corrupted. Only drag and drop!
Wait for the MP3s to be copied onto the PSP. This may take several minutes, depending on how large the files are.
When the files are completely copied, safely unplug the USB cable from your computer and PSP.
Open the Music folder on your PSP. All of the music you just put on it should be there. Plug in your headphones and listen.
