How to Move a Background From a Laptop to a PSP

When Sony introduced the PSP -- or PlayStation Portable -- they were looking to offer PlayStation fans a mobile gaming system, with emphasis on the mobile. Like a smartphone, the PSP has a Web browser and Wi-Fi, offering gamers a lot of customization options including themes and custom wallpapers. You can load your own backgrounds on your PSP from your laptop computer and can change the background as frequently as you like.

Instructions

    • 1

      Plus the PSP into the AC adapter and plug the other end of the adapter into a wall socket. Make sure you have a memory card inserted into the system. Switch on the PSP and then turn on its Wi-Fi switch on the side system (or top, with the PSP 3001 model). Navigate to the settings menu and then scroll down to find ̶0;System Update.̶1; Press ̶0;X̶1; to select a Wi-Fi network, then press X again.

    • 2

      Click on ̶0;Update̶1; to begin the system update download. Once completed, press ̶0;X̶1; on the update data to begin installing it and then press ̶0;X̶1; again when the installation is finished. You should always have the most up-to-date software to make transferring between your laptop and the PSP work its best.

    • 3

      Connect the provided USB cable to your PSP and plug the other end of it into your laptop. On the PSP, scroll to settings and then highlight ̶0;USB Connection̶1; and press ̶0;X.̶1; Your computer recognizes the device and installs a drive letter for the PSP.

    • 4

      Open File Explorer and then double-click on ̶0;Removable Disk X:̶1;, where ̶0;X̶1; is the letter assigned to the PSP by your computer. Right-click and choose ̶0;New ̵1; Folder̶1; and then type ̶0;PSP̶1; and press ̶0;Enter.̶1; Double-click on the ̶0;PSP̶1; folder and create another new folder called ̶0;PHOTO.̶1;

    • 5

      Copy images that you would like to use as background images on your PSP from any folder on your computer into the ̶0;PHOTO̶1; folder you created in Step Four. The PSP has a small screen, so you don̵7;t need to select 2MB photos in super-high resolution for them to display well. You can copy as many photos as your PSP will hold, though this largely depends on what size of memory card you have in the system (4 GB or 8 GB) and how many saved game files you have. Check the remaining space on the memory card by right-clicking on the PSP in File Explorer and choosing "Properties."

      Navigate to the ̶0;Photo̶1; option on the PSP menu and then press ̶0;X.̶1; Select ̶0;PHOTO̶1; and press ̶0;X̶1; again -- all of the photos you copied in Step Five appear in a list. Select an image and press the triangle button and then choose ̶0;Set as Wallpaper̶1; then press ̶0;X̶1; to confirm overwriting the current wallpaper. Repeat this step each time you wish to change the wallpaper to one of the photos you copied in Step Five.
