Things You'll Need
Instructions
Turn the PSP off, and open the memory stick slot on the left side of the player.
Press the memory stick in and release. It will pop out of the slot.
Insert the memory stick into a memory stick reader connected to a computer. Sony computers have memory stick readers built-in, but if you have another model, you can purchase an adapter online or at stores that sell computer accessories.
Click "Start," and select "Computer." The memory stick will appear as a drive. If the memory stick does not appear, the stick has gone bad. If the memory stick does appear, double-click the drive. The "Picture" "Music" and "Video" video folders are named after their contents. The "Game" folder contains save game files. Highlight the folders you want to copy. Click "Organize" and select "Copy."
Right-click on an area of the desktop, and select "Paste." The computer will create a copy of the folders on the desktop.
Remove the memory stick, and place it back in the PSP. Turn on the system with no game disc inserted.
Open the "Settings" menu, and select "System Settings."
Select "Format Memory Stick" to erase the information on the memory stick and restore the default file system. The PSP will copy system files and folders back to the memory stick automatically. Once the format is complete, check to see if the light has gone off. If not, replace the memory stick. If it has, remove the stick and plug it back into the memory stick reader.
Open the memory stick drive, and drag and drop the folders on your desktop into the drive. Select "Yes" if the system prompts you to overwrite. Remove the stick when the files are finished copying and place it back in the PSP.
