How to Make a PlayStation Portable a Remote Controller for a PlayStation 3

The PlayStation Portable -- or PSP -- is a handheld gaming console manufactured by Sony. The PS3, on the other hand, is Sony̵7;s actual video game console. You may not know that there are ways to link these two devices, and it is done through the Wi-Fi capabilities of both units. This can come in handy if you would like to consolidate the devices and use the PSP as a controller for the PS3.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn on your PSP, and select "Wi-Fi Settings" from the main menu.

    • 2

Configure your network settings according to the modem in your area.

    • 3

Save the network settings on your PSP.

    • 4

Turn on your PS3, and select "Settings" from the main menu screen. Select "Network" from the list of options.

    • 5

Configure your network settings the same way you did with the PSP, and save the settings.

    • 6

Select "Network" from the list of options in the main menu screen of your PSP, and then click "Connect." Some features of your PS3 will now be accessible via the PSP.

    • 7

Click on "Settings" again on the PS3, and select "Remote play." The PS3 will then connect to the PSP.

    • 8

Insert the game disc into your PS3, and select "Start" from the main menu of your PSP. You can now control the game with the controls on the PSP.
