How to Eflash the PSPgo

The PSP Go is a handheld gaming device that comes equipped with 16 GB of internal flash memory. If you want to give your PSP Go to a friend or bring the unit in for resale, it is a good idea to wipe the flash memory to remove personal data and downloaded content. Flashing your PSP Go back to the factory defaults is relatively straightforward, as the action is supported by the build-in system settings. Once you wipe the flash memory, however, you will never be able to recover the data it once contained.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn on your PSP Go and let the XMB menu load.

    • 2

Select "PlayStation Network" and then "Account Management." Wait for the unit to connect to PSN.

    • 3

Scroll down to "System Activation" and select "Deactivate." You will need to do this in both the "Video/Comics" folder and the "Games" folder. Deactivating your account prevents you from being unable to connect to a new device, as your PSN account only supports five devices total.

    • 4

Head back to the XMB menu and choose "Settings." Open the "System Settings Menu" and navigate to "Format System Storage."

    • 5

Select "Yes" on both confirmation prompts to completely wipe your PSP Go's flash memory. You can also wipe external memory cards through the "Format Memory Stick" menu.

    • 6

Go back to the XMB again and select "Settings," then "System Settings."

    • 7

Click "Restore Default Settings" and confirm by pressing X. Restart your PSP Go once complete. When the device starts up, all of your personal information and settings will be gone.
