How to Make a WiFi Antenna for a PSP Without Modifying

The PlayStation Portable, commonly known as the PSP, is a handheld video game device to which you can download games from the PlayStation Network. The PlayStation Network is accessed by the PSP via a wireless Internet connection. If the signal strength of the wireless connection is not sufficient, give the PSP's reception a boost by making a homemade antenna. Equipping a PlayStation Portable with a homemade antenna doesn't require you to modify the device in any way.

Instructions

    • 1

Twist one end of a 1 foot length of copper wire into a circle the size of a quarter. Use pliers to bend the wire.

    • 2

Twist 1 inch of the other end of the copper wire into a one-eighth of an inch-thick braid using pliers. Wrap the copper wire around itself two or three times until it is the appropriate thickness.

    • 3

Tape the circle end of the copper wire to the back of the PSP using electrical tape.

    • 4

Insert the braided end of the copper wire into the USB port on the bottom of the PSP. The copper needs to touch the metal interior of the USB port for the antenna to work properly.
