How to Defeat Maleficent in Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep

Study Maleficent's attack patterns to know when to attack and when to dodge. Maleficent has four major attacks that she uses -- lightning bolts, staff attacks, magic rings and dark pillars. In between these attacks, she frequently teleports around the screen.

Move out of the way of her lightning attacks by jumping, dashing or dodge rolling to the side. If you are close to Maleficent when she does this attack, you can get in a few hits before she teleports away.

Dodge her staff attack by backing away from her. She does this attack after a teleport or if you have been getting in a long combo, preventing her from teleporting away.

Jump over the magic rings when she casts this spell. Head for the part of the room that is glowing with white energy and press "Square" when given the prompt to. This will begin a minigame where you must press the button combination in order as it is displayed on the screen. Win this minigame to stun Maleficent, allowing you to get in a great deal of physical damage against her.

Press the "Square" button to dodge roll away from the dark pillar attack when Maleficent turns the screen black. Continue to dodge roll during the entire span of this attack.

Attack Maleficent whenever you are not dodging attacks to lower her health points. When Maleficent is nearly finished she will occasional replace teleportation with a whirlwind flying attack. Dodge this attack and continue to lower her health points to eventually defeat Maleficent .
