Preparation
Unscrew the back panel of the battery cover using your micro-sized Phillips-head screwdriver. If you have a glasses repair kit, you can use the screwdriver that came with it.
Open the UMD drive and make sure there is no media in the device. Media in the drive can interfere with the recovery effort.
Unsnap the memory card cover and remove your current memory stick from the PSP console. Set it aside with the screws in a safe location.
Remove the old battery from your PSP console. In the PSP, the battery contains a flash memory that holds part of the operating system. In a bricked PSP console, the memory area that allows the OS to boot is ruined. You will be replacing this battery.
Insert the Pandora Battery into the PSP console to replace the old one. Make sure it snaps firmly into place (use tape to hold it temporarily if required). If the battery has a mode switch, make sure that it is set to the "On" position.
Insert the magic memory stick into your PSP's memory slot. Make sure it is properly seated and the cover is replaced and snap shut.
Charge the Pandora battery using the charge cable for your PSP. Make sure to allow at least an hour for it to acquire a working charge, though optimally, give it a few hours to acquire a full charge.
Unbricking Process
Engage the power switch on the side of the PSP while holding the L-trigger on the top left of the console. The system will reboot with several installation options.
Select the version of the operating system you wish to install on your console. You may not see the version that was present on your console originally, but this is fine. You can update the operating system after the installation is complete.
Wait for the operating system to be installed. When the installation is complete, you should reset the system by selecting the option from the installation dialog box.
Test the system after it resets. Switch through the various menus and try reading the memory card for file content. Do not install or run any software at this point.
Turn off your PSP to prepare it for reassembly. Make sure you hold down the power button for several seconds to ensure that it is not simply in standby mode.
Reassembly
Unsnap the memory cover and remove the magic memory stick.
Replace your old memory stick into the memory card slot, ensuring it is seated properly. Replace the memory stick cover.
Replace the battery cover using your screwdriver to replace the screws that held it in place. If you had used tape to hold the Pandora battery temporarily in place, remove the tape first.
Power up the PSP system and check the memory stick in your system to ensure that it is functional.
Update the firmware in your system if needed, using the wireless network or the USB cable as required. Your system is now ready for use.
