How to Install Datel's Action Replay Demo to the PSP

Datel's Action Replay for the Sony PSP lets you alter the code in certain games to gain extra lives, infinite ammo or other effects. Datel has released a demo version of the software, letting you see how well it works on your PSP before purchasing. While you can't actually use the codes on the demo version, you can view the list of games with codes and get a feel for the software, the interface and Action Replay's mechanics.

  1. PC Software Installation

      Open your Internet browser. Type "http://www.maximummemory.com/ar_psp/pc-software/" into the address bar and hit "Enter."

      Click "US Version" and opt to save the file. When the download finishes, navigate to where the file was saved and double-click it. If presented with any security warnings or confirmation requests from Windows, accept them to bring up the Action Replay's setup program.

      Follow the on-screen instructions provided by the installer until you come to the "Ready to Install" screen. Click "Install." Check the box for "Launch Action Replay for PSP Installer" and click "Finish."

      Choose a language once the program launches and click "Accept" after reading the message provided. After establishing an Internet connection, the software displays two sets of directions: one for PSP Go owners and the other for PSP 1000, 2000 and 3000 owners.

    PSP 1000, 2000 and 3000

      Insert a memory stick with at least 3MB of free memory into your PSP 1000, 2000 or 3000. Remove any discs currently in your PSP and connect it to your computer using your USB-to-PSP cable.

      Turn on the PSP and go to "Settings," then "USB Connection." Navigate back to the Action Replay PSP PC software, confirming that the program recognizes your PSP. If not, select "I'll Select My PSP Drive" and find the correct drive in "Computer," where your C drive and any disc drives are located.

      Wait while the program installs your Action Replay demo on the PSP. After installation, exit your PSP's "USB Mode" and disconnect the PSP from your PC. Go to the "Game" bar, choose "Memory Stick" and "Action Replay" to launch the demo.

    PSP Go

      Connect your PSP Go to your PC with your USB-to-PSP cable and turn on the PSP Go. Navigate to "Settings" and choose "USB Connection."

      Navigate back to the Action Replay software on your PC and confirm that it's detected your PSP Go. If not, click "I'll Select My PSP Drive" and select your PSP from within the "Computer" folder.

      Take the PSP Go out of "USB Mode" once installation completes. On the PSP, go to the "Game" bar, open "System Storage" and launch "Action Replay" to start the demo.
