Things You'll Need
Instructions
Pull out the battery on the PSP and also remove any memory sticks that are inside the PSP's card reader.
Insert the magic memory stick into the PSP's memory card reader. This is the software modification, also known as a softmod, part of the process. The software is stored on the memory stick.
Insert the service tool battery into the PSP's battery compartment. Since the PSP had no battery inside of it, the device was powered down. When inserting the service tool battery, the device instantly turns itself on. A service menu comes up.
Select the "Downgrade" option on the service menu. Select "Yes" when asked to agree to the basic terms of the downgrading agreement. The PSP begins the downgrading process, and a "Downgrading" title comes up on the screen.
Select the "Reboot" button on the next window when it appears to shut down the PSP.
Remove the service tool battery and memory card, reinserting the original ones to complete the process.
