How to Troubleshoot LEGO Indiana Jones on the PSP

The PlayStation Portable (PSP) uses mini discs to play games. The game disc slides into a disc drive built into the PSP through a slotted door at its top edge. You can troubleshoot why the Lego Indiana Jones PSP disc-based game is not playing correctly by focusing on the disc and its interaction with the disc drive. You will need supplies from a hobby store as well as from around the house, but no special equipment is required.

Things You'll Need

White glove
Towel
Needle-nose pliers
Compressed air

Instructions

  Place the Lego Indiana Jones PSP game disc on a table with the label facing down. Put on a white glove. Rotate the disc that is in the open slot on the plastic casing a quarter turn clockwise. Hold the PSP with the back facing you. Slide the drive release latch at the top edge to the right. Pull the disc drive's door towards you. Insert the disc, label facing towards you and the slot at the bottom, into the drive's slot. Push the door closed to properly seat the disc so it can be played.

  Place a towel on a table. Place the PSP face down on the towel with the disc drive edge facing you. Slide the drive release latch to the side. Pull the disc drive door open, but leave the Lego Indiana Jones PSP game disc in the drive. Grip the hook at the edge of the disc drive door with a needle-nose pliers. Bend the hook down. Remove the pliers and close the door to engage the drive's latching mechanism. Open the door and repeat the procedure with the needle-nose pliers if the door does not close completely.

  Slide the latch at the top edge of the PSP to open the disc door. Pull the disc door away from the PSP. Remove the Lego Indiana Jones PSP disc from inside the disc drive. Blow out the drive with bursts of compressed air. Blow off both sides of the PSP disc with bursts of compressed air. Return the disc to the disc drive and close the door.
