Insert the mini-USB end of the USB cable into the USB slot on the PSP. Insert the other end of the USB cable into a USB slot on your computer. Open the side compartment lid on the PSP and insert a memory stick. Close the lid.
Push up on the power switch at the lower right corner for a second before releasing it. Navigate through the menu screens that are displayed on the home page until you come to "Networking." Select "USB mode" from the list of choices. Press the "X" button on the PSP.
Launch a web browser from the computer by selecting it from the "Start" > "All Applications" pop-up menu.
Enter the web address of a PSP enthusiast's website that features modification software to use with the PSP, such as the PSPMOD website. Download the file to the desktop. Double-click the file to decompress it to a folder.
Double-click the folder to open it. Double-click the "being.bat" file to begin the installation of the modification program onto the PSP's memory stick. Follow the menu prompts that appear on the screen. Quit the program once it states it has completed placing the necessary modification files on the PSP's memory stick.
Click "Start," followed by "Computer." Right-click the icon of the memory stick that is in the left column of the window that appears on the screen. Select "Eject" from the pop-up menu. Disconnect the USB cable from the PSP and from the computer.
Deselect the "USB mode" on the PSP and return to the main-menu screen. Press the power switch up and hold it for two seconds to turn off the PSP.
Remove the battery compartment lid from the back of the PSP. Remove the battery. Insert the Pandora battery into the battery compartment and close the lid.
Place the PSP on a table with the disk drive facing away from you. Push up on the power switch at the lower right corner for a second before releasing it. Press "X" when prompted to do so by the onscreen prompt to shut down the PSP.
Remove the Pandora battery and reinsert the original battery. Turn the PSP on to use it in its modified state.
