How to Beat the Thunder Bolt on Armored Core: Last Raven Portable

"Armored Core: Last Raven," a futuristic video game released in 2006 for the PlayStation 2, is the sequel to "Armored Core: Nexus." The game was later released in Japan for the PlayStation Portable. Players pilot a large Raven battlemech in combat against other giant robots. One of the more difficult bosses to defeat is Bolt, also known as Thunderbolt. Bolt boasts a variety of energy weapons that can kill you in moments if you fail to use the proper strategy for defeating him.

  Set up your battlemech with the following settings to optimize your fighting chances against Bolt:
  
  Core: GAEA, tune your energy defense to its maximum setting.
  
  Head: Queen, tune your energy defense to its maximum setting.
  
  Booster: VULTURE, tune your booster heat to its maximum setting.
  
  Arms: Gibbon, tune aiming accuracy to its maximum setting.
  
  Legs: LYNX2, tune your energy defense to its maximum setting.
  
  FCS: VOLUTE2
  
  Generator: G91
  
  Extension: RM2
  
  Radiator: ANANDA
  
  L: GAST
  
  R: SHADE
  
  Back: NYMPHE

  Avoid close-range combat with Bolt at all costs. Bolt is initially equipped with a GRIFFON dual laser but will switch to the PERYTON pulse rifle if you move in for close combat. The PERYTON pulse rifle deals a tremendous amount of damage, but it is only useful at close range. Stay at medium to long range and use your GAST weapon.

  Take your shots at Bolt between his LX laser blasts. Bolt uses a lot of energy weapons, which creates a lot of heat. To take Bolt down, hide behind a building as he fires his LX laser. Bolt emits a blue light when he is about to fire the laser, which will let you know when to hide. Once the LX laser hits the building, pop out and fire at Bolt with your GAST weapon. The combination of firing his LX laser and taking damage from your weapon will cause Bolt to overheat. Repeat this process until Bolt is defeated.
