How to Uncompress CSO to ISO

Sony PSP game systems running Custom Firmware (CFW) are able to play UMD (PSP game disk) images from a memory card. This is useful for backing up your games as well as traveling with multiple games without the hassle and inconvenience of carrying one or more disks for each -- you can load as many of your games onto the memory card as will fit. In order to fit more, some people compress their games to CSO image files, which are smaller than uncompressed ISO files. There's a trade-off, however: CSO files take longer to load. For that reason, you may change your mind and prefer to use an uncompressed ISO file.

Instructions

    • 1

Download PSP ISO Compressor (see Resources).

    • 2

Run the PSP ISO Compressor installer.

    • 3

Click "Next," "Next," and "Install." Wait for PSP ISO Compressor to be installed.

    • 4

Click "Finish." PSP ISO Compressor will launch.

    • 5

Click the radio button (bubble) next to "Uncompress CSO -> ISO" to set that as the mode.

    • 6

Click the button labeled with "..." (an ellipsis) under "Input File(s)."

    • 7

Use the file browser window to select the CSO file you want to decompress.

    • 8

Click the "Uncompress" button. Wait for the decompression to complete. It may take several minutes depending on the size of the file and the speed of your computer.
