How to Create a Pandora Battery on PSP 6.31

The Sony PSP's official firmware, 6.31, was released in 2010 and offers many of the same great features as all of the other PSP firmwares. If you would like to go back to any of the previous firmware numbers, the use of Pandora battery is necessary. The Pandora battery places the PSP into a maintenance access state from which new firmware can easily be installed. Making a Pandora battery when the PSP is already running the 6.31 firmware is a process that requires caution, as the PSP battery needs to be disassembled.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the PSP's battery slot on the back of the PSP by pushing in the battery release button. Pull the PSP battery out of the PSP.

    • 2

Hold the PSP battery in the hand opposite your dominant hand. Slowly begin to score the plastic seam that goes all the way around the battery using a knife or box cutter. Under no circumstances insert the knife or box cutter into the battery.

    • 3

Continue to lightly score the seam until the top battery cover comes off. Locate the black "ICO4" circuit on the bottom of the battery's motherboard.

    • 4

Use the safety pin to carefully pull the fourth pin on that circuit off of the motherboard. The pin will turn copper when it is fully disconnected.

    • 5

Place the battery cover back onto the battery and snap it back into place. The PSP battery can now be used as a Pandora battery.
