How to Make a Pandora's Battery With the Stamina Pack Battery

If you have ever been caught in a Sony PSP update when your battery ran out of power, you know that you are left with a broken PSP as the firmware installation fails. In order to fix the PSP you need to be able to access its installation system. A Pandora battery is a Sony created tool that is used to fix broken PlayStation Portables. When the Pandora battery is inserted into a broken PSP, the battery forces the PSP to turn on. Once it is back on, the PSP can then be updated to a recent PSP firmware and used as normal. A Pandora battery can be made from any official Sony batteries, including the Sony Stamina battery.

Instructions

    • 1

Hold the Sony Stamina PSP battery in your hand with the "Sony" logo facing towards you. Locate the thin seam that connects the front and rear halves of the battery cover.

    • 2

Use a box cutter or a razor blade to go around the Stamina battery pack's seam multiple times until the top halve is able to be removed. Do not press the blade into the battery or the metal will short the motherboard.

    • 3

Locate the circuit that reads "ICO4" on it. This is the chip whose pin needs to be cut. Use the safety pin to cut the pin that is closest to the "4" in "ICO4." Be gentle and do not let the safety pin touch anything but the single pin.

Place the battery's cover back into place and snap the battery closed. You now have a Pandora battery made from a Sony Stamina battery pack.
