How to Get Access to the Internet on a PSP

The Sony PSP has built-in Wi-Fi so you can connect your hand-held console to the Internet for online gaming, Web browsing, video streaming and video chatting. Using its infrastructure mode, the PSP can connect to a wireless router or modem in your home and utilize wireless hotspots when you're on the go. The PSP's main menu walks you through the process of connecting your console to the Internet.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn on your PSP. Choose "Settings" from the main menu, then select "Network Settings."

    • 2

Choose "Infrastructure Mode," then select "New Connection."

    • 3

Select "Scan." The PSP will search for wireless access points in the area.

    • 4

Choose the name of the wireless access point you wish to connect to, then select "Continue" at the next screen.

    • 5

Choose the type of security setting on your access point and enter the password for your wireless network. If there's no security setting, choose "None."

    • 6

Select "Easy" on the address settings screen. Create a new name for your PSP connection or use the default name.

    • 7

Verify the information on the next screen, then choose "Continue." Save your settings.

    • 8

Choose "Test Connection." You'll see "Succeeded" on the test results screen if the PSP has accessed the Internet.
