Action/Adventure Games
Several action and adventure games have been released by Sega for the PSP. Most of them have also been released for other consoles, and have either been ported or abridged and adapted from the large console version for the portable system. In this genre, Sega has released "Iron Man: The Video Game," a game adaptation of the film; "Iron Man 2," its successor; "Sonic Rivals 2," a continuation of the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise; "Alien Syndrome," a top-down science fiction action game, and "Super Monkey Ball Adventure," a PlayStation 2 classic.
Racing/Sports
Sega has released a number of sports and racing or driving-based games for the PlayStation Portable. These include "Football Manager 2010," and "Football Manager 2011," a "Tycoon" style game based around the football industry; "Outrun 2006: Coast 2 Coast," a remake of the classic racing game; "Sega Rally Revo," an off-road racing game in the Sega Rally series; "Virtua Tennis 3," a tennis game; "Full Auto 2: Battlelines," a vehicular combat and racing game; "Sonic Rivals," a Sonic the Hedgehog racing game; and "Crazy Taxi: Fare Wars," a PSP adaptation of the classic Crazy Taxi arcade games.
RPGs and Shooters
Due to the nature of the PSP, it is not a very popular console for role-playing games or shooter games. The small data space limits the possibilities of an RPG world, while the small screen and basic controls make the PSP unsuitable for reflex-based shooter games, which require precision and speed. The only RPG games Sega has produced for the PSP are "Phantasy Star Portable" and "Phantasy Star Portable 2," two portable adaptations of the Phantasy Star Online franchise of MMOs; and "Valkyria Chronicles II," a tactical RPG. The only shooter game developed for the PSP by Sega is "After Burner: Black Falcon," a flight combat simulation game.
Other Games
Most of Sega's games for the PSP fall under the Action/Adventure category or the other categories mentioned. However, Sega also released "Crush," a platform-puzzle video game. In addition to this, Sega released "Sega Genesis Collection," a collection of 28 games that were originally released for the Sega Genesis, and have been updated and compiled for the PlayStation Portable.
