PSP Mini Games

In 2009, Sony released a series of "Minis" through their PlayStation Store. The Mini series is composed of small games, all downloadable titles for the PSP. Some of the titles are PSP-exclusive, while others have seen a wider release. Games in the series fall into a wide range of genres and styles.
  1. Minis

    • The Minis series is composed of games that are less than 100 megabytes (mb) in size. These titles are small, arcade-style games, in which the first few levels may be simple and later levels become increasingly difficult. Mini titles are usually made by small, independent developers, although there are titles made by larger game houses. The Guardian compares this series with the App Store for Apple products, or the DSi Store for the Nintendo console of the same name.

    Genres

    • If you're in the market for a PSP Mini, you can find a game for just about anyone. "Enigmo" and "Angry Birds," for example, are a pair of physics-based puzzles. "Card Shark" and "Battle Poker" are both card-based games. Fans of top-down shooter games might enjoy "Break Quest." "Hysteria Project" is a survival horror game about a kidnapped victim of a hooded stranger. The series also includes a port of a 1981 "Pac-Man" clone called "Lock 'n' Chase."

    Purchasing Minis

    • Minis are available at the PlayStation Store, where they have their own category. Log on to the PlayStation Network using or creating your own account. The "Mini" section is under "Games," where you can browse the various titles in the collection. When you have found a game you would like to buy and play, select "Add to Cart" or "Purchase," then follow the onscreen prompts to input your credit card information and purchase the game. Your PSP will download the game and add it to your PSP "Game" menu.

    Remote Play

    • A lot of games on the PlayStation Minis series are also available for download through PlayStation 3's version of the PlayStation Store. Because of this, some of the available games can be played through the PlayStation 3 "Remote Play" feature. You have to connect the two consoles together to allow remote play from one to the other. This system uses the PlayStation Network, so you can access files on your PlayStation 3 console remotely on the PSP.
