DJ MAX Portable is a rhythm game released by Pentavision for the Sony PSP portable gaming system. Players are tasked with completing difficult button combinations to the beat of popular electronic songs from around the globe. DJ MAX Portable is a highly customizable game with a wide range of options at the player's disposal. One of the more controversial options creates a beeping sound coinciding with every button press to help new players figure out the difficult rhythms of each song. While this option can be a great help to beginners, it can be very annoying for more experienced players.

Insert the DJ MAX Portable game disc into your PSP system.

Power on your PSP system, and start the DJ MAX software from the "Games" tab of the Media Crossbar.

Highlight "Options" from the main menu and press "X."

Highlight "Audio Options" from the "Options" menu and press "X."

Locate "Rhythm Assist" from the list of displayed options. Use the directional pad to select "Off," then press "X."
