Things You'll Need
Instructions
Clamp the jaws of a pliers around the base of one of the two antennas on the "rabbit ears" antenna. Twist the pliers to break the antenna off the "rabbit ears" antenna's base. Place the "rabbit ears" antenna aside.
Place the antenna you broke off from the "rabbit ears" antenna on a work surface with the tip facing right. Heat up a soldering iron for five minutes.
Tear a 2-inch strip of aluminum foil from the aluminum foil roll. Place the strip of aluminum foil horizontally on the work surface. Fold the top over to the bottom and smooth the crease with your fingers. Repeat this procedure again. Tear off another 2-inch strip of aluminum foil and repeat the procedure just completed with the first strip.
Apply two drops of solder to one of the ends of one of the strips. Let the solder cool for a minute. Place the end of the strip of foil that has the solder on it into the hole in the end of the antenna. Place the tip of the soldering iron on the strip next to the hole in the antenna. Hold the tip there for 10 seconds before removing it. Let the solder cool for a minute.
Apply two drops of solder to one of the ends of the other strip. Let the solder cool for a minute. Place the end of the strip of foil that has the solder on it against the outside of the antenna an inch or so above the hole. Place the tip of the soldering iron on the strip next to where it is touching the antenna. Hold the tip there for 10 seconds before removing it. Let the solder cool for a minute.
Measure four inches from the soldered end of the strip of foil. Cut the strip of foil at the four-inch mark with a scissors. Repeat this procedure with the other strip of foil, only starting the measurement from the antenna's hole. Apply two drops of solder to each of the two free ends of the foil strip. Let the solder cool for a minute before continuing.
Tear a 1-foot long strip of aluminum foil from the roll. Place the strip of foil horizontally on the work surface. Fold the top over to the bottom and smooth the crease with your fingers. Repeat this two more times. Fold the left side of the foil over to the right and smooth the crease with your fingers.
Fold the top-left corner into the center of the foil. Smooth the crease with your fingers. Fold the top-right corner into the center of the foil and smooth the crease. Fold the bottom-left end over to the center and smooth the crease down. Fold the bottom-right end over the to center and smooth the crease down.
Tear a four-inch strip of aluminum foil from the roll. Place the strip horizontally on the work surface. Fold the top over to the bottom and smooth the crease. Repeat this an additional time. Fold the left side over to the right side and smooth the crease.
Tape the top of this strip of foil to the bottom of the other strip of foil with pieces of cellophane tape.
Place a hand towel on the work surface to protect the PSP's LCD screen. Place the PSP face down on the hand towel with the battery compartment on the left side and the disc drive door farthest from you. Tape the strip of foil to the back of the PSP, so that the foil overlaps the top where the disc drive door is located.
Place the soldered end of the strip of foil that is soldered to the side of the antenna against the foil closest to the battery compartment. Place the tip of the soldering iron against the foil for 10 seconds before removing it. Let the solder cool for a minute. Repeat this with the soldered end of the other strip of foil and the foil on the back of the PSP that is closest to the disc drive door.
Turn the PSP over. Stand the antenna up against the PSP, or place a wood block against the antenna to keep it upright. Your "connection point" TV antenna will now work to enhance the wireless signals that the built-in antenna will be receiving.
