How to Make a Magic Memory Stick Using Vista

A magic memory stick is needed for a Pandora battery that is used to unbrick a bricked PlayStation Portable (PSP). A PSP is bricked when it is corrupted by firmware and will no longer start up, and this typically happens when a homebrewed application is installed incorrectly. Creating a magic memory stick to use with the Pandora battery will correct the damage done to the PSP.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the battery and memory stick from the PSP. Put the new memory card in the slot, but don't replace the battery.

    • 2

Press and hold the "R" key, and turn on the power. This opens the F33 recovery menu. Select the "Configuration" option.

    • 3

Check the game folder homebrew line to see it is higher than 2.7 kernel. If this is below 2.7, hold the "X" button to change the kernel. Click "Back," then "Exit" to reboot the PSP.

    • 4

Scroll down to "System settings," and select "Format memory stick." Select "Yes" twice, and the PSP will format the folders needed on the memory stick.

    • 5

Scroll back up to "USB connection," and press the "X" button. Connect the PSP to your Vista computer using its USB cord.

    • 6

Download all the files listed in the resource section, save them in a folder on your desktop and open the folder.

    • 7

Right-click on "Despertar" and "Pan3xx" folders, and extract them to folders of the same names. Once the files are extracted you can delete the RAR files.

    • 8

Right-click the "Eboot" file, and select "Extract here." Rename the folder "150.PBP." Right click the "150 PBP" file, and select "Copy." Right-click on the same folder, paste a copy of it and rename it "Update.PBP."

    • 9

Right-click the "340" and "380" folders, and select "Extract here." Rename the folders "380.PBP." and "340.PBP."

    • 10

Click on the "Memory stick" folder. Select the "PSP" folder, and then select "Game" folder. The game folder will be empty when you open it.

    • 11

Drag and drop the "Pan3xx" folder to the memory stick window. Click the "Back" button twice to return to the main root menu.

    • 12

Drag and drop the "Update.PBP" folder. Exit out of the "USB" mode on the PSP. Select "Game" and "Memory stick" on the PSP. Run the Pandora installer program on the PSP.

    • 13

Hold down the "R" key while pressing the "X" button to bring up a new menu on the PSP. Hold down the "L", "R" and "X" keys to reformat the PSP. Press "X" to turn off the PSP.

    • 14

Wait a few seconds, and then turn on the PSP using the "On" button. Scroll to and select "USB mode." Go back to your computer.

    • 15

Right-click in the memory stick window, and select "New folder." Name the folder "PSP," and then double-click that folder. Right-click and select "New folder." Rename the folder "Game."

    • 16

Double-click the "Game" folder, and drag and drop the "Desperter" folder into the game folder. Click the back option to return to the main Memory stick folder.

    • 17

Drag and drop the files "340," "380," "Update" and "150" to the memory stick folder. Switch back to your PSP.

    • 18

Scroll to "Game," and then scroll to "Memory stick." Run the "Desperter" program. Press the "X" to begin the installation. PSP reboots, and the process is complete.
