How to Convert a UMD Video to Play on a PSP

The Sony PSP is more than just a gaming device -- it also plays music and videos. One way to play videos on the PSP is with a Universal Media Disc (UMD). As a portable, compact device, the PSP is too small to include a DVD drive. Therefore, Sony developed the UMD as a way to play games and videos from a disc. Playing a UMD video on a PSP does not require a conversion process. Once the disc is inserted into the PSP, it is ready to play.

     Turn on the PSP. Select "Video" from the menu.

     Open the PSP's disc cover and insert the UMD with the blank side of the disc facing the front of the PSP. Close the disc cover.

     Highlight the UMD icon and press the "X" button.

     Highlight the video's icon and press the "X" button.
