How to Use Cheats on the PSP 5.00 M33-3 for PSX Games

The Sony PlayStation Portable is capable of playing PSX games when you are running custom firmware, like 5.00 M33-3. Custom firmware runs the PSP and allows you to use special features on it like playing games from the memory stick and playing PlayStation 1 (PSX) games. Cheat codes allow you to alter the way you play the game. For instance, it can give you infinite lives or ammo when playing a fighting game. A plug-in allows you to use cheat codes on the PSP.

  Connect your PSP to the computer and select the "USB Connection" option from the PSP menu.

  Download the PSP cheat plugin CWCheat. CWCheat comes with two different plug-ins. One is for normal PSP games and the other is for PSX games played on the PSP.

  Right click the "CWCHEAT" folder that comes with the download and click "Copy." Click the "Start" button on the computer desktop and click "Computer" from the start menu.

  Double-click the "PSP" icon to open the PSP drive on your computer. Right-click the "SEPLUGINS" folder on the PSP memory stick and click "Paste" to transfer the CWCHEAT plug-in to the PSP memory stick. Press the "O" button to disconnect the PSP from the computer.

  Hold the PSP power button down for five seconds to turn it off completely. Hold the "Right" trigger button and turn the PSP on. You will see the recovery menu. Select "Plugins" and select the "cwcheatpops.prx" plugin to enable it. Select "Back" and "Exit" to restart the PSP.

  Hold the "Select" button on the PSP and select the PSX game from the PSP main menu to start the game and bring up the Cwcheat menu. Select "Select Cheats" and the cheat codes you want to use will load into the game you started. Press the "Select" button again to play the game.
