How to Make a GPS Work for the PSP Slim

There are a few different GPS attachments designed for use specifically with the PSP Slim. Because the PSP Slim is capable of connecting to Wi-Fi wireless Internet networks the GPS then uses that network connection to identify your location and plot out directions to a destination that you input. How you will use the GPS attachment depends a little bit on which one you buy.

Instructions

    • 1

Connect your GPS receiver unit to your Sony PSP Slim. All commercially available GPS receiver units will connect to the Slim via its USB input. Some GPS receivers then fasten directly onto the case of the PSP, while others will require you to hold each device in a separate hand, or to set your PSP on a car seat or table while the GPS receiver is connected.

    • 2

Insert the GPS receiver software into your PSP Slim. Some GPS receivers store this software on an included UMD media disc that is inserted into your PSP like a regular game disc. Others may include their software on a memory stick that gets inserted into the PSP Slim's memory stick input. This will depend heavily on which GPS unit you purchased.

    • 3

Turn on your PSP Slim and the GPS receiver.

    • 4

Select "Game" from the PSP menu. An icon will be present for the GPS receiver software. Select this icon to load the program. You can then input your desired destination into the program using the PSP's controller interface.
