How to Open a PSP Circuit Board

The Sony PlayStation Portable is a handheld video game console. Yyou can take apart the PSP yourself in order to repair and place vital internal parts. Sony has made the disassembly process simple and quick. If you need to get to the PSP's circuit board, there are only a few screws between you and the internals of the device.

  Push the battery cover button on the rear of the device and the battery cover will pop off. Remove the battery inside of the battery bay.

  Remove the four screws underneath the battery using the screwdriver. Remove the two screws on the opposite end of the battery bay. Remove the final screw on the bottom edge of the Sony PSP.

  Pull firmly up on the PSP's front cover to remove it. Insert the screwdriver in between the LCD screen and screen bracket and twist until the bracket tabs pop out.

  Disconnect the button bar from the bottom of the LCD screen by pulling out the connection ribbon from its connection point.

  Fold the LCD screen down and disconnect the LCD screen connection ribbons to access to the PSP's circuit board.
