How to Transfer a UMD to My PC

Transferring your UMD game to a PC is a good way to create a backup of the game if something happens to the UMD disc. Universal Media Disc (UMD) is the optical disc format created by Sony, which is used to play games on its PlayStation Portable (PSP) gaming system. To transfer a UMD to your PC, your PSP must have third-party custom firmware installed. The firmware is readily available free of charge from many PSP enthusiast websites. Once the firmware is installed, use the PSP USB cable to connect to the PC and transfer the UMD game.

Instructions

    • 1

Press the "Select" button on the PSP. The Visual Shell menu opens. Select "USB Device" until it turns into "UMD Drive."

    • 2

Insert the UMD game into the PSP, and then navigate to "Settings" and select "USB connection."

    • 3

Connect the PSP to the computer with the PSP USB cable. A window containing the UMD game information automatically opens on the PC.

    • 4

Right-click on the ISO image file in the window and select "Copy" from the pop-up list. Right-click on an empty area of the desktop and select "Paste" from the pop-up list. The UMD game will copy to your PC.
