First-time Setup
Insert one end of an Ethernet cable into the back port on your PlayStation 3 console. Plug the other end of the cable directly into your modem or router. The PS3 must be connected to the Internet with a wired connection to use "Ad Hoc Party."
Power on your PlayStation 3.
Scroll to "PlayStation Network" on the cross media bar, and highlight "PlayStation Store." Press "X."
Scroll down to "Add-Ons," and press "X."
Highlight "PSP Add-Ons," and press "X."
Highlight "Ad Hoc Party," and press "X" four times in a row to download the software.
Press "Circle" to exit out of the store.
Power on your PSP.
Insert a connector cable into the top mini-USB port on the PSP, and insert the other end of the cable into the USB slot on your PS3.
Scroll to "Settings" on the PSP.
Scroll down to "USB Mode," and press "X."
Navigate to "Settings" on your PlayStation 3.
Scroll down to "Remote Play Settings," and press "X."
Highlight "Register Device," and press "X."
Press "X" again to select "PSP" and once more to confirm. Your PSP and PS3 will sync together.
Press "Circle" on your PSP to exit USB Mode.
Disconnect your PSP from the connector cable.
Playing Online
Scroll to "Game" on the PlayStation 3 cross media bar.
Scroll down to "Ad hoc Party," and press "X."
Select "Start," and press "X."
Highlight any lobby from the list that appears, and press "X" twice.
Tilt your analog stick to move the cursor to an empty area of the screen.
Press "X," highlight "Create Room" and press "X."
Highlight "Create 4 Player Room," and press "X."
Begin "Monster Hunter Freedom 2" on your PSP.
Move your character to the "Gathering Hall" at the north end of the village.
Highlight "Online Quests," and press "X." Your PSP will be detected by the PS3 and appear on "Ad Hoc Party."
Wait for others to join your room, or give your lobby number to friends to join with their own PSPs and PS3s. You can now play online with any other players who have "Ad Hoc Party."
