My PSP Memory Card Is Locked

While a locked memory card in your Sony Playstation Portable device protects the memory card's data, it also prevents you from saving new information onto the card. To unlock the memory card, you must manually disable the card's lock, which re-enables the card's use on your PSP device. As with any device, the memory card should be configured only when it is removed from the PSP and the device is turned off; this prevents accidental damage to the memory card.

Instructions

    • 1

Power off the PSP and lift the card slot cover located on the left of the device.

    • 2

Push the memory card to eject it, and gently pull the card out with your fingers.

    • 3

Slide the card's switch to the right to disable the card's lock.

    • 4

Insert the memory stick into the card slot with the printed side face down until it clicks into the slot.

    • 5

Push the card slot's cover back onto the PSP. Press the "Power" button on the PSP.
