How to Fix Your Fully Hacked Bricked PSP

Hacking a PSP allows you to perform many new tasks on the system, such as running homebrew games and customizing the system interface. The ability to fix a "bricked" system -- one that will not boot -- is another major benefit to hacking your device. Regularly, you would have to return a bricked PSP to Sony for repair, but on a hacked system you can perform the fix yourself using the same tools that you used during the hack.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the battery and your regular Memory Stick from your PSP. Insert the Pandora Battery and Magic Memory Stick that you used the first time you hacked your system.

    • 2

Unplug your PSP from the wall outlet to ensure the Pandora battery boots into service mode correctly. Turn on the system. If you use version 5.00 firmware, hold the left trigger button while the system starts.

    • 3

Press "X" when the black console screen appears to reinstall the custom firmware. Because a bricked system normally results from a firmware error, reloading the firmware can solve the problem. Wait while the system flashes the new firmware.

    • 4

Push "X" once the process completes to turn off the PSP. Remove the Pandora battery and Magic Memory Stick.

    • 5

Reinsert the regular battery and your Memory Stick. Plug the system back into the wall outlet. Power on the PSP. Your system should now start normally. If your PSP previously had a newer firmware than the one included on your Magic Memory Stick, update it as usual.
