How to Use a PSP AV Component Cable Correctly

The Sony PSP AV component cable allows you to connect your handheld gaming system to your television set using component audio and video cables. This may be necessary if you want to watch a video stored on your PSP on your television set, which will provide a much larger screen than the PSP can. Using the cable correctly involves successfully hooking it up to both of the devices.

Instructions

    • 1

Connect your PSP AV component cable to your Sony PSP. The long, metal pin on the end of the component cable plugs into the headphone jack on the top of the PSP. The small, rectangular chip next to the pin plugs into the input adjacent to the headphone jack on the top of your Sony PSP.

Plug the component audio and video cables into your television set. The red, blue and green plugs on the end of the AV cable are for video -- plug these into the red, blue and green inputs on your television set. The red and white (which are grouped closely together) plugs on the end of the AV cable are for audio -- plug these into the red and white audio inputs on your television set.

Turn on your PSP and your TV. You can now watch videos from your PSP on your television set, although the component AV cable does not work with playing games on your TV.
