How to Play PMP Videos on the PSP

It can be very aggravating to happen upon .pmp video files. Not only are they difficult to run on the computer, requiring an upgrade on the VLC Player, but if you want to take them with you on the PSP, things get even trickier. There is no reliable program to convert .pmp files to MP4, the file type the PSP recognizes, so only one solution exists: The PMPlayer Advance.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Find the latest version of PMPlayer Advance at PSP Hacks (see References). As of this writing, it is the 3.1.2 version. Click on the relevant link under the PSP image to begin downloading the application.

    • 2

Decompress the downloaded file. As it will have saved to your hard disc as a .rar compressed file, you need an appropriate program, such as WinRar, to do the job. The result of the decompression is a folder. Check the folder to ensure the "EBOOT.PBP" file is included.

    • 3

Connect the PSP with your computer using its USB cable. When you have attached the two, go to "Settings" on the PSP's menu, and press "X" on the "USB Connection" option.

    • 4

Copy the whole file to your memory stick's address. X (the memory stick) :\PSP\GAME\PMPlayer Advance 3.1.2. When it's pasted, press "O" on your PSP to end the USB connection safely.

    • 5

Open the player through the Memory Stick Games option on the PSP.
