How to Get a PC to Recognize Game Controllers for Guitar Hero

The Guitar Hero series of rhythm-action games allow gamers to play along with their favorite rock songs on custom-made guitar controllers. The games began life on PlayStation 2 and Microsoft XBox, but since then have expanded onto PlayStation 3, XBox 360, Nintendo Wii, and even Windows PC computers. Connecting your Guitar Hero guitar controller (known as the "X-Plorer") to your PC is an easy procedure, and once you're connected, you will be rocking out in no time.

Instructions

  Turn on your PC, start Windows, and connect to the Internet.

  Plug your Guitar Hero X-Plorer controller into a high-speed USB port on your computer. The high-speed ports are found on the computer itself, rather than in the keyboard or monitor.

  Wait for the Found New Hardware Wizard to begin. This program will install your X-Plorer guitar on your PC.

  When the Found New Hardware Wizard asks if you want to connect to the Internet to search for software, select "Yes, this time only" and press "Next."

  Allow the Wizard to detect and install the software for your X-Plorer guitar controller. When your guitar has been installed, click "Finish" to complete installation.
