How to Fix the Down Strum on the Guitar Hero World Tour Guitar

The immensely popular Guitar Hero series of interactive music videogames allows living room rockers the chance to strut their stuff as they play along to a slew of rock hits. This is possible thanks to the inclusion of the unique guitar shaped controller that features a few basic colored buttons that mimic fretted notes on a guitar neck and a flip switch that mimics both up and down strokes. Sometimes the switch becomes a little worse for wear and needs some TLC.

Things You'll Need

  • Elastic band (rubber band, hair tie, etc).
  • Screwdriver (optional)

Instructions

    • 1

Make sure your system is plugged securely into its power source prior to powering up the console. Make sure all attached hardware is firmly plugged in as well. Turn the system on and insert a copy of Guitar Hero into the console.

    • 2

Place the guitar controller on your lap and twist the elastic band around the flip switch piece into tight coils. This places pressure on the switch and will make it stay in place, but not firmly enough so that the game cannot be played accordingly.

    • 3

Use a screwdriver to pry open the controller to check if any damage had occurred internally to the switch if the elastic band method didn̵7;t work. Wrap another band around the switch and close the controller, adding double the pressure to the switch but still allowing the needed up and down motion. Play the game to see if the switch holds.
