Can You Use Guitar Hero Instruments With Rock Band 2?

The "Rock Band" and "Guitar Hero" video games and video game accessories allow gamers to enjoy a simulation of what it would be like to be in a band and play music together. Although both video game brands are similar in gameplay, there has been some confusion as to whether or not the "Guitar Hero" instrument peripherals are compatible with the "Rock Band 2" video game.
  1. Rock Band 2

    • Harmonix's "Rock Band 2" allows gamers to play together in a band setting as they take control of guitar/bass, drum and microphone video game peripherals, much like the "Guitar Hero: World Tour" and "Guitar Hero 5" video games. "Rock Band 2" can be played on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 2 and 3 and the Nintendo Wii.

    Xbox 360

    • Luckily all the Guitar Hero guitar/bass, drum and microphone peripherals from "Guitar Hero 2" up to "Guitar Hero 5" are compatible with "Rock Band 2" on the Xbox 360.

    PlayStation 2

    • The Guitar Hero guitar/bass and microphone peripherals work for the PlayStation 2's "Rock Band 2," but the drums do not.

    PlayStation 3

    • The PlayStation 3 allows almost complete compatibility with the Guitar Hero peripherals and "Rock Band 2," except for the "Guitar Hero 2's" X-Plorer guitar.

    Nintendo Wii

    • The Nintendo Wii, like the PlayStation 3, also almost allows complete compatibility except for the "Guitar Hero 2" X-Plorer guitar.
