Using Your Headset
Check that the Xbox 360 cables are properly connected to your television and that both are plugged into your wall power outlets. Make sure that Xbox 360 is properly connected to your Internet provider either through a modem or Wi-Fi router.
Turn on your Xbox 360 console by pushing the "On" button next to the USB ports, or by pushing the "Guide" button, found between the "Start" and "Select" buttons on your Xbox 360 controller. You'll have to turn on your controller to navigate through the game.
Connect the Xbox 360 headset into the port found on the bottom or top, depending on the headset design of the Xbox 360 controller.
Place the headset comfortably on your head and make sure the headset is turned on and the volume is at a comfortable level.
Push the white or silver "Open/Eject" button found next to your console's disc tray to open the tray, then place the "Karaoke Revolution Presents: American Idol Encore" video game disc into the tray. Close the tray by pushing the "Open/Eject" button again.
Wait while the video game loads. This may take a couple of minutes.
Sign into your user profile by pushing the "Guide" button and choosing one from the list of profiles saved to your hard drive. If you don't have a user profile, you'll need to create one to play online.
Choose the "Online" option on the start menu to play against or with other online players. If you have any "friends" (online users you've accepted as a friend) online, you can send them game invites to play. The "friends" must have a copy of "Karaoke Revolution Presents: American Idol Encore" to play with you online.
Choose a game mode like "Tournament" or "Duet" from the list provided in the online menu.
Communicate with the other players by talking into your headset so that you can choose songs you'd like to sing as a duet, or to trash talk/encourage during a tournament.
