How to Configure a Rock Band Guitar

̶0;Rock Band̶1; is a music simulation game developed by Harmonix, the original developers of ̶0;Guitar Hero.̶1; The game allows players to simulate playing the guitar, bass, drums, or vocals of songs. A special guitar-shaped controller is used for the guitar and bass parts. By default, the guitar controller is set up like a right handed guitar, with the left hand on the fret buttons and right hand on the strum bar. It is possible to configure the controller for a left-handed setup. Some televisions have a slight delay that affects the timing of ̶0;Rock Band̶1; and needs calibrated.

Instructions

  1. Lefty Mode

    • 1

      Select ̶0;Options̶1; from the main menu of ̶0;Rock Band.̶1; Alternatively, you can press the ̶0;Start̶1; button during a song to access the same option.

      Select ̶0;Gameplay Settings̶1; from the options menu. You must be using the guitar controller to bring up the guitar gameplay settings. If you use the standard console controller you will bring up the vocal gameplay settings.

      Highlight the ̶0;Lefty Mode̶1; choice. Press the green fret button to turn on lefty mode. The guitar controller used to change this option will be configured to lefty mode. If a second guitar controller is connected to ̶0;Rock Band,̶1; it will not be affected by the option change.

    TV Calibration

      Select ̶0;Options̶1; from the main menu. You cannot access the TV calibration options from the pause menu during a song.

      Select ̶0;TV Calibration̶1; from the options menu and select ̶0;Auto Calibration.̶1;

    • 6

      Hold the guitar up to the speaker of your TV when prompted by the game until you are prompted again by the game to remove it. The front of the guitar should be facing the speaker. This will calibrate the audio timing for ̶0;Rock Band̶1; automatically.

      Hold the guitar controller up to the TV screen when prompted. The controller should be facing the screen. This will calibrate the video timing for the game.

      Remove the guitar from the screen when prompted. The TV calibration is complete at this point.
