Basic Movement
Moving a character is the key element to playing a game. If you don't move, you lose. The directional buttons move a character in a straight line. Use the analog stick in the center of the controller to move with more variation. The directional buttons and analog stick may also have other functions, depending on the game.
Face Buttons
The red start button in the center of the controller is used to pause the game. To resume a game, press the button again. This feature is useful when you want to stop playing without ending the game. The A, B and four yellow "C" buttons on the right side of the controller have different uses, depending on which game you play. The two buttons located on the shoulders of the controller also have various uses depending on the game. Refer to the game's instruction manual to decipher the uses of these buttons.
Additions
In addition to the bizarre design of this controller, it is also equipped with a memory card slot and a "Z" trigger located on the back of the controller. The memory card slot should be inserted into the back of the Nintendo 64 controller. The "Z" trigger may sometimes be used to shoot a gun in shooting games. There are also wireless Nintendo 64 controllers. These controllers can be used without being plugged into the console.
