How to Repair an Xbox 360 Headset

Today's video games have progressed tremendously since the days of mono-colored graphics, wired paddles and joysticks. Modern consoles like the Xbox 360 are powerful enough to deliver cinematic-style animations, surround-sound and realistic action. Add a headset to the mix and you can communicate with players all over the world if your gaming platform is connected to the Internet. But if you spend a lot of time gaming, eventually, you may find that your headset isn't working as well as it once did. If your Xbox 360 headset no longer delivers sound, it's not because you were fragged in the head by a member of the Covenant; it's probably because a wire just became loose. Repair an Xbox 360 headset so you can get back in the game and get your retribution.

Pull the speaker out from its compartment.

    • 4

Examine the speaker to see if any wires have fallen off.

    • 5

Take the broken wire and place it on its terminal on the speaker.

    • 6

Use the soldering gun to solder the wire back in place. Allow it to cool completely before touching it.

Set the speaker back in its housing and snap the speaker cover back in place.

    • 8

Re- install the foam pad over the ear-piece. Be careful when doing this because the foam can tear easily.

Plug the Xbox 360 headset into the controller and fire up your favorite game. You should now be back in action.
