Things You'll Need
Instructions
Draw your design on a piece of scratch paper. Work on your design until you have a satisfactory final product. As you design, keep important factors in mind that may prevent your paint mask from working effectively with your console or console accessories paint job. For example, space limitations and curves can affect how your design looks once applied.
Place several rows of blue painter's tape on a sheet of glass (picture frame glass works well for this project). Overlap the painter's tape so there are no gaps. Next, place the paint mask design directly over the painter's tape. Make sure the design fits over the tape. If not, add more rows of tape until it fits.
Trace over the design with a craft knife. This cuts through the paper and the painter's tape. Continue cutting until you trace and cut through the entire design. Work in an orderly fashion to ensure you cut through all the lines.
Remove the paint mask from the glass and remove the remainder of the painter's tape with a pair of tweezers. Remove slowly to prevent ripping and tearing.
Apply the paint mask directly onto the console or console accessories. Firmly rub your finger against the paint mask to ensure that it remains in place during the painting process.
