Things You'll Need
Instructions
Set the PS3 control face down in your work space. Remove the five screws from the back using the screwdriver. Lift the top of the controller off and unhook the wire traveling from the battery to the circuit board.
Remove the battery, battery brace and power button casing. Unscrew the top, middle and bottom screws of the controller.
Take out the circuit board from the case's bottom. Peel the plastic sheet from the circuit board's back and place the circuit board in your workspace.
Dislocate the analog stick from the circuit board. Cut off two four-inch pieces of electrical wire using wire cutters and strip them of their insulation. Heat up the soldering iron and apply a bit of solder. Wipe off the solder using a moist sponge and reapply solder.
Solder the end of the wire to the positive contact on the controller's LED. Solder the end of the second wire to the negative contact and the opposite end to the positive contact of the resistor. Solder a third wire to the negative contact of the resistor.
Solder the wire connected to the positive LED to the positive contact of the metal shield with the ribbon cable located at the top center of the circuit board. The third wire you soldered to the negative contact of the resistor should then connect to the small metal nut at the left end of the circuit board.
Cut out the white extruding rubber of the rubber pad with "Start," "Select" and "PS3 Home" written on it using a utility knife. Use the knife to make a groove fitting electrical wires in the plastic board attached to the circuit board.
Set the LED on the now-cut rubber pad and attach it with bonding glue. Slide the LED wiring through the groove you made in the plastic board and attach the plastic sheet back to the controller's circuit board and reconnect the plastic board.
Reassemble the controller and turn it on. The LED light should now glow in the center of the PS3 controller.
