Pairing a Wiimote With an EVO

A Wiimote is a controller used on the popular Nintendo Wii entertainment system. The controller is operated using Bluetooth technology, which is a standardized protocol used for many wireless devices. Since the Wiimote is based on Bluetooth, with the help of some software it is compatible with an HTC EVO, a Bluetooth-enabled, Android-based smartphone. However, your EVO must not be running the stock HTC ROM and must be running a non-Sense-based ROM like Cyanogen Mod for the Wiimote to work properly. If you are running a non-Sense-based ROM, pairing the two devices is not difficult and can be done in a few minutes using trusted software on the Android Market.

Type "Wiimote Controller" in the search box and tap "Search."

    • 5

Select the first result, a program called "Wiimote Controller" and install the app from the Android Market.

    • 6

While the app is downloading, go into the handset's system settings and enable bluetooth if it is not already enabled.

    • 7

Open the Wiimote Controller app once it has finished downloading. Tap "Yes" when prompted upon opening to enable "WiiControllerIME."

    • 8

Put your Wiimote in discovery mode by pressing 1 and 2 at the same time. Immediately after, tap the first button on the Wiimote Controller app screen. The "connected" message, or three blinking lights, should appear on the Wiimote to indicate it has been paired.
