How to Make a Shifter Mount for a Playseat Evolution

The Playseat Evolution is a popular racing simulator seat, incorporating mounts for a small flat screen monitor, steering wheel and pedals. Optionally, gamers that prefer manual transmission operation of their virtual vehicles may prefer to mount a shifter to the side of the seat. Although available for purchase as an add-on accessory, many prefer to take the cost-effective path of DIY shifter mount creation.

Instructions

    • 1

Thread the 90-degree elbow joint onto one end of the threaded pipe. Orient the joint with the adapter facing up.

    • 2

Screw the square threaded base plate on top of the 90-degree joint.

    • 3

Screw the shifter to the holes on the base plate, using the hardware supplied with the wheel.

    • 4

Slide the pipe into the Evolution's receiving slot. Tighten the plastic knob at the base and side of the slot to secure the pipe.

    • 5

Route the shifter wires away from the mount as needed to prevent obstructions.
