How to Remove Scratches From a Video Game Without Toothpaste

You pay for many things when buying a new video game (fun, replay value, depth), all of which can be taken away by a tiny scratch. It doesn't matter if your game only makes the trek from console to case, foregoing any rest in between, chances are it will still accumulate scratches from this very routine. If you've tried the most basic approach (wiping it with a cloth), but the scratches are too deep to remove, then you will need more drastic measures.

Things You'll Need

  • Metal polish
  • Soft cloth

Instructions

    • 1

Shake the can or bottle of metal polish and apply a dime-sized amount onto a clean cloth.

    • 2

Apply the metal cleaner to the back of the scratched disc using gentle dabs. Rub the disc with the cloth from the inside out for about five minutes. Allow the disc to sit for a few minutes and wipe off the metal polish with a clean cloth.

Rinse the disc with water and dry it off with a cloth. You should notice most of the scratches are removed and the disc is covered in a haze. Insert the disc into your console to test.
