How to Fix a PS3 Controller's Directional Pad

The Sony PlayStation 3 controller has two analog pads and a single directional pad. Like with every controller button, overuse tends to make the buttons stick inside of the controller. To fix the PS3 controller, you need to remove any debris that may be impeding the buttons̵7; path and dry it thoroughly to prevent any moisture from entering the controller.

Things You'll Need

Spray air
Cotton swab
Rubbing alcohol

Instructions

  Place the PS3 controller onto a flat surface where it will be easy to handle.

  Grab the PS3 controller and spray each small crevice around the d-pad where the button sinks into the controller when pressed.

  Repeat this for each button that is sticking inside of the controller.

  Dampen a cotton swab with rubbing alcohol. Lightly rub each button with the alcohol without letting any of the liquid to drip into the controller.

  Allow the controller to dry upside down, so any liquid that may have entered the controller is drained and completely dried.
