How to Start a Gameshark

GameShark is a brand of game data devices for multiple game consoles that give gamers an advantage when playing their favorite video game. Some GameShark systems come preloaded with a number of cheat codes for multiple games, while other GameShark systems require players to input cheat codes manually. The instructions for starting up a GameShark vary depending on whether the game system is cartridge based, like a Game Boy, or disc-based, like a Playstation. For best results, consult the manual that came with your GameShark device.

Instructions

For Cartridge-Based Systems

  Insert the GameShark into the game cartridge slot on the system.

  Insert a game inside of the top of the GameShark cheat device.

  Turn on the game system to activate the GameShark automatically. After entering or selecting your cheat codes, exit the menu and the game will automatically begin. Keep the GameShark system plugged in while playing.
For a Disc-Based System

  Connect the memory card that came with your GameShark to the first memory card slot.

  Place the GameShark disc into your game system.

  Enter or select your cheat codes from the GameShark menu. When you are finished, exit the menu. You will be prompted to remove the disc.

  Eject or remove the disc from the game system and replace it with the game disc that belongs to the cheat codes. The game will load automatically.
