How to Record on a PS3 With a Graphics Card

With a video-capture graphics card, recording software and a computer, it is possible to record your PS3 gameplay and post it online to keep your friends involved in your gaming adventures. This process takes some time to set up and requires fast hard drives with large capacities. But once you have the recording system set up, you can easily record and edit your gameplay to show clips of your best gaming highlights or help friends get through a difficult level by showing them how you did it.

Instructions

    • 1

Purchase a video-capture graphics card for your computer or, if you do not want to go the internal hardware route, consider an external loop-back system. You will need loads of hard drive space and fast enough hard drives to record at the high frame-per-second rendering rate. Install the proper video codec such as DivX, Xvid, H.264 or Mpeg2 on your computer.

    • 2

Connect your HDMI cable's out from your console into the graphics card. Connect your RCA cable's out from your console to the input of your sound card.

    • 3

Install the video-capture software that came with your graphics card. Start up the software and check that the input devices are properly connected. Start recording on the video-capture software, and then start playing your game.
