How to Fix a N64 Gameshark Pro

The Nintendo 64 console was one of the first to receive the third-party-created GameShark device. The device allows you to unlock and utilize a plethora of cheat codes you normally would not have access to while playing many of the system's most popular games. However, the device has been known to mess up from time to time. Luckily, this is primarily caused by the presence of dust disrupting or completely prohibiting the transfer of data from the accessory to the console.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off the console by flicking its "Power" switch downward. The red light on the front of the console will turn off when the power to it has been disconnected.

    • 2

Blow on the bottom of the cartridge and the top of the Nintendo 64 cartridge slot. This will cause any loose dust to be blown out of the devices, allowing it to communicate properly.

    • 3

Insert the GameShark Pro catridge back into the system and turn the console's power on. The device's menu will automatically appear.

    • 4

Disable any codes currently active. Even though the device is created by a credible third-party manufacturer, the device can still contain codes that make the system unstable. Disabling any recently enabled codes, particularly those that alter large amounts of the gameplay, can restore your device to normality.
