How to Troubleshoot an NYKO Charge Station

The Nintendo Wii uses a wireless controller that eats AA batteries like they're going out of style. You have several options for rechargeable batteries, including the Nyko Charge Station. The Charge Station comes in two- and four-controller configurations. To use the charge station, you remove the standard Wii remote battery door and install the battery pack and battery door supplied with the Nyko. The Wii remote rests in a socket on the charger, with the contacts on the charger touching the charging contacts on the back of the battery pack through a hole in the battery door.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove any rubber jackets or accessories covering the Wii remote. The contacts on the battery must connect with the metal contacts on the charging station. Covers on the remote prevent the connection.

    • 2

Make sure the Wii remote has the battery cover supplied with the charge station. The standard Wii remote battery covers don't have the hole for the battery charger contacts.

    • 3

Verify the charging station is plugged into the wall outlet.

    • 4

Remove the battery if the Wii remote will not power on after you charge it. Bend the contacts on the bottom of the battery out slightly, then bend them back. The contacts will protrude slightly and give better contact with the connections inside the Wii remote.

    • 5

Repeat the pairing process between the remote and the Wii if the remote turns on, but the Wii console does not respond. Turn on the Wii and open the cover on the front of the console. Remove the battery cover from the back of the Wii remote. Press and release the "SYNC" button on the Wii console and the Wii remote.
